Resting in Him

This week, a friend shared with me the verse, "Come to me, all you who are weary and heavy burdened and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." -Matthew 11:28-29

I think in our fast paced society, it is often difficult to find rest for our souls. We are bombarded with multiple to-do lists and once we complete one, we usually start another. Often times, we lose sight of what really matters. It is easy to put spending quality time with our family and especially with God, on the back burner. Even as I write this blog, I must be careful that I am not neglecting time I could be spending with the Lord, my husband, or my son. Thankfully, Bradd and Oliver are sound asleep. ;)

Tonight at small group, we had a missionary speak to us who had just returned from a two year mission in the Amazon Jungle! She slept on a hammock and had to catch her own food! There was no ice, so whatever she drank was always hot. She gave an illustration with the classic baby toy where the baby has to fit a certain shape into the right hole. She said everyone has a different "Shape", as in their ministry gift. We must find our "Shape" and where we fit.

What "Shape" are you?

Here are some pictures from a family walk around the lake in our neighborhood. I just love spring time weather, it is the perfect time for a late afternoon / early evening family stroll! The peaceful scenery reminded me of the verse my friend shared with me.
