A Year and a Half

A friend of mine recently told me that at 18 months was when she felt like her daughter was truly a toddler, and no longer a baby. Now, I know why she said that. Oliver is truly his own little person now. What a joy he is!

Here is what he has been up to:

~Even though a lot of what he says sounds like gibberish, he is saying more and more words, such as..."Bye-bye", "Bubbles" (which sounds like, "Buba"), "Teeth" (which sounds like, "Teetees"- maybe because I say, "Teefies"), "Waffle and Cracker" (which usually sounds like "Douja"), "Moon" (which sounds like "Moo"), "Woof-woof" (when I ask him what a dog says), "Choo-choo" (when I ask what a train says, although it sounds more like a grunt with "Woo-woo" added in), "Duck" (when he gets out of the bathtub and points to his stuffed duck that makes noise, sounds like "Yaya"), and finally- he has said a short sentence..."Bye-bye Dada."

Here is what Oliver has been up to:

~Showing off (sometimes this is in the form of rolling around on the floor like a crazy man...the more we laugh, the more he does it- or, in the form of showing off things he collects outside)

~Wrestling with Dada

~Wearing suspenders as usual (hey, this little dude is still wearing 6 month clothes- the suspenders help keep his pants up)...

~He can hum the tune of the ABC song ~He seems to be musically inclined...he will hum his own little tune from time to time...dance on beat...and he played the keyboard at his Great Papa's birthday party

~Eating pizza with Dada

~Watching the cars get washed at his Dada's job

~Wearing heels...He loves to follow his little girlfriend around at Stay-n-Play Cafe and copy her

~Dressing like Superman on Father's Day

~Still loves to give hugs, (especially unexpectedly and when Mama really needs one)

~Chasing a ball in the water with Dada

~Playing with a ball in the water with his little friends

~Dancing...

~Doing better at sharing...om, and taking too ;)

~Laying on his dada (and still loves to have Dada tuck him in)

~Giving Pepaw a workout

~Getting his first tattoo (he even picked out...with a little help from Mama)

~Sitting on a fire truck for the first time

~First professional haircut...made Mama cry

~Saying "Ball" every time we pass by Target

~Riding a golf cart for the first time

~Being sneaky at nap time and bed time (He loves to reach down and turn on his batmobile)

~Walkin on a monkey leash (not anymore though for a while- he fell down and busted his lip)

~Handing Dada blocks so he can build a big city thing

~Climbing

~Sitting

~Crying (this was an overly-tired-after-church-meltdown)

~Making his first "Big" mess while feeding himself

~Feeding ducks

~Eating frozen yogurt

~Catching a lightening bug

~Loves to plop down in Mama's lap and still loves to cuddle during story time

~Basically, these two picture really sum it up (since Oliver is obsessed with balls, books, and moving all around)

Oliver is still 18 pounds and some ounces (his doc appointment is later this month). He is still getting more fun and more fun every single day. I feel so blessed to be his mother. I pray that Oliver would love the Lord with all his heart, soul, mind and strength. Also, that God would annoint him from the top of his head to the bottom of his feet (I have prayed these two things over him every night since the day he was born- well, since the night we started putting him in his crib to sleep- which was at three months old). ;) I feel blessed to be his mother.
